Lee: Licensed Professional Counselor and Calmness Creative
|
|
|
|
As a Licensed Professional Counselor since 1990, I counsel
children, adults, couples and families in my private practice in Colorado
Springs. Recently I added Calmness Creative to my title to describe
my passion for creating
calming experiences and calming auditory resources. While my
practice is generic in nature, and I keep it that way intentionally, I
especially enjoy working with persons experiencing anxiety disorders,
panic attacks, and insomnia, and especially enjoy working with couples. I am very effective with adults
coping with ADHD, newly diagnosed Alzheimer's patients and their families,
working caregivers, and those dealing with grief and loss.

Hypnosis is a tool I use frequently to promote
calmness and behavioral changes in a variety of situations including
pre-surgical anxiety, childbirth, smoking cessation, and weight
loss. My approach to counseling is "to do what
works" and what works for one client may not work for the next.
My counseling tends to focus on the present and future as opposed to the
past and focuses on finding solutions, brainstorming strategies and trying
on new behaviors to help clients make the changes they desire. Of
course, sometimes we have to explore the past to get to where we want to
be, but we don't have to stay in the past.
My ideal clients are those who come for counseling because they want
to, not because they have to. People who enjoy being my clients are
those who value being spoken to with honesty and being confronted with
hearing the hard things, who value a compassionate listener, who
appreciate a calm, peaceful office setting and my calm, accepting
presence. My ideal clients demonstrate commitment to the counseling
process by regular attendance, being timely to appointments, following
through on homework assignments, and respecting our financial agreement.
We all face challenges as individuals, families, partners, parents,
grown children, and siblings. I bring my life experience,
my clinical experience, and most of all, my presence -- who I am as a
person -- to be there for my clients at each session. I'd like to be
present for YOU.
